Program Director, Online Master’s in Sport Management

Dr. Calvin T. Williams Jr. serves as a faculty member and online master’s program director in sport management at the University of Kansas, where he teaches graduate courses including HSES 896 Capstone in Sport Management and HSES 880 Internship in Sport Management. In these courses, students are encouraged to move beyond theoretical textbook principles by using critical thinking, leadership skills, and individualized decision-making to develop real-world sport management solutions.

Dr. Williams is the founder of Williams Pro Services, LLC, a business he has evolved from personal training to sports agency representation and, more recently, to professional services focused on risk management insurance strategies and the development of intellectual property. His work examines how athletes, sport professionals, and organizations protect income, manage liability, and build sustainable structures in high-risk, high-visibility environments.

He is the self-published author of “Insured to Win: A Strategic Guide for Athletes Navigating NIL, Risk, and Long-Term Success,” a resource designed to help athletes, families, and sport organizations understand the legal, financial, and insurance-related exposures created by name, image, license (NIL) opportunities. The book also serves as a student-athlete life-skills and player-development curriculum resource focused on risk management, financial protection, and long-term positioning.

Dr. Williams has published scholarly articles in “Believe: The Voorhees College Journal of Faculty and Student Research” on strategic leadership, business-level strategy in sport, and diversity and inclusion in professional football. His professional, athletic, and written work has also been featured in The Gaston Gazette, Bucs Nation, American Football International, Max Emfinger Recruiting, the National Scouting Combine and a Cool Camps segment for the CBS 17 show “My Carolina”. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership and Innovation and brings prior experience as a professional athlete, educator, and entrepreneur.

The University of Kansas has engaged Everspring, a leading provider of education and technology services, to support aspects of program delivery.
